Electronic Battle Weapon 8

The Chemical Brothers · 2006
Recording

The Chemical Brothers released Electronic Battle Weapon 8 as a 2006 DJ-only 12-inch on Freestyle Dust, paired with Electronic Battle Weapon 9. The track was written and produced by Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, engineered by Steve Dub Jones, mastered by Mike Marsh, and later developed as Saturate for We Are The Night. The record continued the duo's Electronic Battle Weapon series of club test pressings made for DJ circulation before wider album release. Its later appearance as Saturate connected the underground promo series to the We Are The Night campaign. Electronic Battle Weapon 8 remains part of The Chemical Brothers' Brotherhood-era archive of DJ tools. As Saturate, the track became one of the more durable instrumental pieces from We Are The Night and received renewed catalogue attention through later streaming editions.
