Move Me No Mountain
Love Unlimited Orchestra · 1997Recording
Recorded in 1973–1974 for Love Unlimited’s third album, In Heat, with Barry White producing and Gene Page handling arrangements. The track features Love Unlimited on vocals and was issued on 20th Century Records. It was one of the standout cuts on In Heat and later became one of the group’s best-known album tracks. The song’s reputation has been reinforced by its repeated appearance in later soul compilations and by cover versions from Dionne Warwick and Chaka Khan. The track has been widely sampled in hip-hop and other contemporary music, including Nas’s 1997 “Escobar ’97,” and it remains a staple in Barry White and Love Unlimited retrospectives. Its enduring reach comes from the song’s lush arrangement and memorable hook.
