Whole Lotta Love
Tina Turner · 1975Recorded for Tina Turner’s Acid Queen sessions at Bolic Sound in Inglewood, California, with Denny Diante and Spencer Proffer producing the side on which the track appeared. It was cut as a rock cover during the same period Turner was promoting her film role in Tommy. The track was one of the standout covers on Acid Queen and helped define the album’s harder-edged, rock-focused presentation. It reinforced Turner’s solo image beyond the Ike & Tina Turner revue and tied her studio work to the visibility she had gained from Tommy. It remains one of the best-known Tina Turner versions of a classic rock song and is regularly singled out in writeups of Acid Queen and her rock repertoire. Later retrospectives continue to treat it as a signature example of Turner reworking a rock standard in her own style.
