Slow Down
Loose Ends · 1986Recording
Recorded in 1986 for the album Zagora, with Loose Ends’ Carl McIntosh, Jane Eugene, and Steve Nichol as the songwriters. Nick Martinelli produced the session, and the track was issued as a single from the album later that year. The single became Loose Ends’ second U.S. No. 1 on the Hot Black Singles chart and reached No. 27 in the UK. It confirmed the group’s crossover status and was one of the defining singles from Zagora. Slow Down remains one of Loose Ends’ best-known recordings and is still associated with their peak commercial period. It has continued to circulate through compilation, radio, and retrospective R&B coverage, and it later served as theme music for MuchMusic’s Soul in the City.
