Let's Stick Together
Bryan Ferry · 1976Bryan Ferry recorded “Let’s Stick Together” during his 1973–1976 solo sessions at AIR Studios and Island Studios in London. Ferry produced the recording with Chris Thomas, with Paul Thompson on drums, John Wetton on bass, Chris Mercer on tenor saxophone and Steve Nye and John Punter among the album engineers. Released by Island in 1976, Ferry’s version of Wilbert Harrison’s song became one of his biggest solo singles and reached number 4 on the UK Official Singles Chart. Its clipped rock-and-roll drive, saxophone breaks and performance-led video helped establish Ferry’s solo identity immediately after Roxy Music’s mid-1970s split. The track remains one of Ferry’s signature solo recordings and a staple of his compilations and live repertoire. Its success also fixed his persona as an interpreter who could turn older rhythm-and-blues material into stylised, modern pop.
