Firework

Tessanne Chin recorded a reggae cover of Katy Perry’s "Firework" for VP Records’ compilation Strictly the Best, Vol. 44, which was released on November 21, 2011. The track presented Chin as a reggae interpreter of a global pop hit before her The Voice breakthrough. Its placement on a major VP compilation linked her to the contemporary Jamaican compilation market. The recording remains a documented part of Chin’s pre-fame catalog and is still listed in streaming databases. It is remembered as an early example of the crossover cover style that later defined much of her mainstream exposure.
