Wildfires

Recorded for Untitled (Black Is), released on 19 June 2020, the track features Cleo Sol on vocals. Inflo produced the recording and played drums and bass guitar, alongside programming; the pair also wrote the song. Released amid the Black Lives Matter protests following George Floyd’s murder, “Wildfires” confronted police brutality while affirming Black resilience. The Guardian ranked it fifth among the best songs of 2020. The track remains a defining expression of Sault’s response to racial injustice, bringing together mourning, defiance and solidarity. Its wider reach includes selection for Apple Music’s The 100 Best Songs of 2020.
