Russell Brothers · 1983
Recording

Released in 1983 as a US 12 inch single on Portrait, the track was produced by Larry Joseph and The Russell Brothers. The original release included vocal and instrumental versions mastered at Frankford Wayne in New York. The Party Scene became a notable early 1980s electro funk record and the only widely documented single by The Russell Brothers. Its large drum machine sound and party chant format placed it alongside early hip hop club records by Hashim, Davy DMX and Newcleus. The record remains a sought after electro funk 12 inch and was reissued for later dance music collectors. It was later sampled by Beastie Boys and Beck and included on electro retrospectives compiled by Joey Negro.
