Don't Stop...Planet Rock (Vocal Version)

Recorded in 1982 at Intergalactic Music in New York with Afrika Bambaataa, the Soul Sonic Force, Arthur Baker, and John Robie. Bob Rosa and John Burnett handled engineering, and the session built the track around recreated Kraftwerk-derived electronic parts and 808 percussion. The track became a landmark electro-hip-hop single and a breakthrough release for Tommy Boy Records. It pushed Bambaataa's sound into the mainstream while helping define the early electro template. It remains one of the most sampled and remixed records of the era and a touchstone for electro, hip-hop, and dance music production. Its futuristic blend of rap, synths, and drum-machine programming still defines how the record is remembered.
