A Little Bit of Love

The track was recorded for Brenda Russell debut solo album with Russell writing and performing as part of a polished late 1970s Los Angeles studio setting. The album was produced by André Fischer and released through Horizon, an A&M Records imprint. Released on Brenda Russell in 1979, it helped establish Russell as a songwriter and vocalist beyond her earlier work with Brian Russell. Though not a charting single, it became one of the album enduring cuts through later sampling and rediscovery. It remains one of Russell most sampled recordings, especially through its use in hip hop and R&B records including Big Pun Still Not a Player. The track has become a key source for later producers drawn to its warm piano and vocal arrangement.
