Prince · 1979

Recording

Prince recorded Sexy Dancer at Alpha Studios in Burbank in April 1979, with overdubs and mixing at Hollywood Sound Recorders the following month. He produced the track and performed its vocals and instruments. The track demonstrated Prince's command of bass, rhythm guitar and keyboards during his second album's commercial breakthrough. It also received an extended version for its overseas single release. Sexy Dancer remained part of Prince's concert repertoire, returning in rearranged medleys, including performances during his 2007 London residency.
