I'm Still in Love
Marcia Aitken · 1981Recording
Recorded in Kingston for Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson, the Mighty Two partnership. It was cut at Gibbs’s Retirement Crescent studio with Marcia Aitken on lead vocal and Thompson engineering. Released in 1977, the track became one of the defining lovers rock versions of Alton Ellis’s classic "I’m Still in Love with You." It was a major Jamaican hit and helped establish Aitken as a key voice in late-1970s reggae. The song’s riddim became a foundation record, directly informing Trinity’s "Three Piece Suit" and Althea & Donna’s "Uptown Top Ranking." It also remained a touchstone for later reggae revivals and interpolation, including Sean Paul’s 2004 hit.
