Put Our Heads Together

The O’Jays · 1983
Recording

Recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia for the O'Jays’ 1983 album When Will I See You Again. The track was produced and arranged by Keni Burke, with session players including Steve Ferrone on drums and George Johnson on guitar. Issued on Philadelphia International, it carried the O'Jays’ early-1980s Sound of Philadelphia sound into the MTV era and served as one of the album’s standout cuts. The single reached No. 45 on the UK Official Singles Chart and spent five weeks on the chart. The song has remained a sampling source and is best known to later listeners through D Mob’s 1989 hit "Put Your Hands Together." Its title and refrain also kept it in circulation across dance and soul compilations.
