Whatever We Do (vs.Mad Prof.)

Ruts DC Vs. Mad Professor · 1982
Recording

Recorded in 1982 at Ariwa Studios with Mad Professor, who handled the dub production and mixing. The session featured the surviving Ruts DC lineup, including Paul Fox, John “Segs” Jennings, Mitt Gamon, and Dave Ruffy. It appeared on Rhythm Collision, Vol. 1, the band’s dub-led collaboration with Mad Professor and a notable post-punk/reggae crossover release. The track helped define the album’s blend of punk guitar, heavy bass, and dub effects. The song remained one of the best-known cuts from Rhythm Collision, Vol. 1 and continued to appear on reissues and live setlists. It stands as part of the Ruts DC and Mad Professor catalogue that helped keep UK punk-dub crossover in circulation.
