Recording

General Degree recorded the song in Jamaica for Haldane “Danny” Browne’s Main Street Records camp, built on the Filthy rhythm. Browne produced the track, and the song’s writing credit is shared by Cardiff Butt and H. Browne. The track was issued in 1998 and became one of General Degree’s best-known dancehall records. It stood out for its playful, memorable hook and for turning an everyday phrase into a distinctive club-ready chant. The song remained closely associated with General Degree’s name years later, and it re-entered wider conversation in 2019 when the Filthy rhythm behind it was linked to Nicki Minaj’s “Megatron.” Its continued circulation on streaming platforms and reggae compilations kept it visible well beyond its original release.
