Dusty Springfield · 1968
Recording

Recorded on 24 January 1968 at Philips Studios in London during sessions associated with Dusty... Definitely. Dusty Springfield recast the Classics IV song from a female perspective, with Johnny Franz producing. First released in 1970 as the B-side of How Can I Be Sure, the recording turned the song into a restrained and sensual vocal performance. It later became recognised as one of the strongest overlooked recordings from Springfield's Philips period. Its use in the 1998 film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels introduced the recording to a new audience. The track subsequently became one of Springfield's most streamed recordings and received a UK gold certification in 2024.
