Don't Let Love Get You Down

Archie Bell · 1976
Recording

Recorded for Philadelphia International Records and issued on the 1976 album Where Will You Go When the Party's Over. The track was produced by Gene McFadden, John Whitehead, and Victor Carstarphen. It was one of the key cuts from Archie Bell & the Drells’ 1976 Philadelphia International era, pairing the group with the McFadden/Whitehead/Carstarphen production team. In the UK, the single reached No. 49 in 1986. The song has remained a sampled source, including A Tribe Called Quest’s "Can I Kick It?", and it has also been covered by Sonia. Its continued circulation in compilations and reissues has kept it visible beyond its original release.
