The Herbaliser · 2018
Recording

Recorded in the Herbaliser's London studio for Bring Out the Sound, using live instrumentation rather than samples. Jake Wherry played electric bass, Ollie Teeba handled turntables, Ralph Lamb played trumpet, Andrew Ross played saxophone and Ollie Parfitt played piano. The instrumental appeared on the Herbaliser's first album in six years and their first release for BBE Records. Its cinematic arrangement and live-band interplay reflected the group's return to their established blend of hip-hop production, jazz and funk. The track remains a concise example of the Herbaliser's sample-free live-band approach. It forms part of an album praised for preserving the group's distinctive cinematic sound after a lengthy recording hiatus.
