Recording

One Way featuring Al Hudson recorded Music for the group's 1979 self-titled MCA album after evolving from Al Hudson and the Soul Partners. Richard Becker produced the track, which was written by Al Hudson, Al Perkins, and Cuba Gregory and featured the group's vocal and instrumental lineup around Hudson, Alicia Myers, Dave Roberson, Kevin McCord, and Gregory Greene. Music was released as an MCA single in 1980 and became one of One Way featuring Al Hudson's early club and R&B entries. It reached number 36 on Billboard's R&B chart, number 30 on Billboard's dance chart, and number 56 on the UK singles chart. Music remained a durable One Way club track through later compilation and sample culture. Its vocal hook and extended groove were later sampled in numerous house and dance records, including tracks by Bob Sinclar and Chubby Chunks.
