Water Boogie
Organic Audio · 2004Organic Audio was Andy Spence’s project, and “Water Boogie” appeared on Illicit Recordings’ 2004 compilation The Last Time I Do This for Nothing. The compilation credits Organic Audio as a contributor and credits Andy Spence as producer. The track exemplified Organic Audio’s percussive, world-inflected dance approach at a moment when the project was being grouped with the more energetic end of early-2000s club music. A contemporary NME review singled out “Water Boogie” as “joyful, uninhibited and loud,” placing it among the standouts in the set. “Water Boogie” remains one of Organic Audio’s better-known tracks and continues to circulate on streaming services. It endures as a representative example of Andy Spence’s Organic Audio aesthetic, with its layered percussion and organic-dance feel still cited in later artist bios and discographies.
