Heard It All Before

Sunshine Anderson recorded 'Heard It All Before' for her debut album Your Woman, with production handled by Chris Stokes and David January, who built the track around a sample of the Mar-Keys' 1962 instrumental 'Last Night.' Released in 2001 on Atlantic Records, 'Heard It All Before' reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Sunshine Anderson's breakout single, establishing her as a notable new voice in early-2000s R&B with its assertive, no-nonsense lyrical stance against romantic excuses. The track remains Sunshine Anderson's signature recording and is frequently cited in retrospectives of early-2000s R&B for its confident, conversational vocal delivery and its enduring presence on R&B radio playlists in the decades since its release.
