Super Sharp Shooter

Super Sharp Shooter

DJ Hype · 1996
Recording

The track was issued on the 1996 Super Sharp Shooter E.P. by DJ Hype Presents The Ganja Kru on Parousia, and the A1 recording was made at the Green Room and mixed at Frontline Studios. The release credits DJ Zinc as the track’s performer and writer, with DJ Hype presented as executive producer and presenter. Released in the middle of the 1990s jungle surge, the track became one of DJ Zinc’s defining records and a major Ganja Kru floor-filler. Contemporary and retrospective sources describe it as a landmark hip-hop/jungle fusion and one of the pioneering drum & bass anthems of its time. The track remained a durable jungle staple well beyond its original run and was still charting on UK reissues in 2004, 2008, and 2023. It continues to circulate as one of the genre’s signature anthems and is regularly referenced in histories of DJ Zinc and DJ Hype.
