The Good Thing

The Good Thing

Talking Heads · 1977
Recording

Recorded in March and April 1978 at Compass Point Studios in Nassau during sessions for More Songs About Buildings and Food. Talking Heads performed the track with Brian Eno producing and Rhett Davies engineering. The song helped demonstrate the tighter rhythms and more dance-oriented production that distinguished the band's second album. It was also issued as a European single backed with Found a Job. The track remains a notable early example of the creative partnership between Talking Heads and Brian Eno. Its disciplined rhythm and clipped arrangement anticipated the increasingly groove-focused work that followed.
