Produced by Simon Neale under his Shadow Child alias, the track features vocals from Zimbabwean singer Takura, who delivered his vocal contribution the day after receiving the instrumental. The single was released on Neale's own Food Music label under license to New State Music, with remixes from MK, The Prototypes, and Maison Sky. Released in late 2013 as the opening track and lead single from Shadow Child's debut compilation album Collected, the track received significant BBC Radio 1 support from B.Traits, Pete Tong, and Friction, and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 32. Its blend of classic house piano stabs, a weighty bassline, and an anthemic vocal positioned it as a crossover bid for the bass-house sound Shadow Child had established with earlier underground releases on Dirtybird. The track consolidated Shadow Child's transition from underground producer to a nationally recognised figure in the UK's early-2010s house revival, alongside contemporaries like Disclosure and Gorgon City.
