Dread At the Control (feat. Hempress Sativa, Tj & Infinite)

Micah Shemaiah · 2013
Recording

The track was released on May 17, 2013 as a 7-inch roots-reggae single credited to Micah Shemaiah, Hempress Sativa, Eesah, Infinite, and Likkle Briggie, and it was produced by EDB Entertainment. A Jamaica Observer report placed it in the Jah Over Evil / Rockers Rebirth revival context and noted that it used an updated version of the Stalag beat. At release, the song functioned as a statement of Jamaica’s neo-roots revival, with its vinyl issue presented as part of a push to return reggae to its classic format. It also served as a teaser for Shalalak — Dread at the Control Rockers Rebirth, the group’s debut album. Micah Shemaiah later described the single as his first vinyl release, and it remained one of the best-known early documents of his roots-reggae profile. The track continued to circulate in remastered and digital form, keeping the collaboration and its Rockers-era aesthetic visible.
