So Serious

Recorded and produced by the Glasgow duo Illyus & Barrientos, with songwriting credit to Monte Moir for the sampled or interpolated vocal line. The original single credits Illyus Barrientos and Illyus Brown as producers, with the release appearing on Toolroom in 2018. Released as a Toolroom single in 2018, it quickly became one of the duo’s breakout records and was described by the label as a summer smash that worked strongly on dance floors, radio, and download charts. It helped establish Illyus & Barrientos as one of the UK house scene’s most visible production acts. The track remained one of the duo’s signature records, with Toolroom later citing it as one of their cult-classic releases and noting that it had reached around 10 million streams. It continued to anchor their reputation in club-house circles and appeared on later Toolroom compilations and remix packages.
