Recording

“Hype The Funk” was issued in 1996 as a UK 12-inch by E.P.S. & 2-Vibe on Urban Takeover. The release credits E.P.S. as writer and producer, with DJ Mark featured and executive production by Urban Takeover. The record was Urban Takeover’s third catalogue release and part of the label’s first run of mid-1990s club 12-inches. It circulated through specialist DJ play, including documented 1997 radio tracklists. “Hype The Funk” remains tied to the early Urban Takeover catalogue and to E.P.S. & 2-Vibe’s short run of releases for the label. Its documented sample from the “Phantasm” soundtrack has kept it visible in sample databases and collector listings.
