Junkie's Prayer

Junkie's Prayer

Mirwais · 2000
Recording

Recorded during the 1999-2000 sessions for Production, with Mirwais Ahmadzaï performing, programming, mixing and producing the track. It incorporates samples from the soundtrack to Jean-Paul Allègre's 1995 short film Louange and was mixed with assistance from Bertrand Joncoux. The track formed part of Mirwais's internationally released breakthrough album, which combined fragmented electronic production with conventional songwriting. Its sampled spoken material and restrained arrangement represented the album's darker, more cinematic side. The recording remains a distinctive album cut from Production and an example of Mirwais's detailed sampling and sound-design methods. The album later became closely associated with the electronic production style he brought to Madonna's Music.
