Recording

Recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and released on Ronnie Foster's Blue Note debut album Two-Headed Freap, with Foster on organ leading a small funk-oriented ensemble. The track exemplified the Blue Note label's early 1970s push into jazz-funk and soul-jazz, positioning Foster as a leading Hammond B-3 voice in the post-Jimmy Smith generation. "Inot" became one of the most heavily sampled tracks in hip-hop, with its organ and rhythm groove lifted by producers across two decades; it remains a cornerstone crate-digging reference for jazz-funk sample culture.
