Recording

Recorded in 1973 at G.M. Studios in Detroit, with overdubs completed at the Record Plant in Los Angeles, 'You Can't Hide Love' featured the Los Angeles vocal group Creative Source. Written by Skip Scarborough and produced by Michael Stokes, the recording appeared on the group's self-titled debut album. Released in 1973 on Sussex Records, 'You Can't Hide Love' became Creative Source's first chart success, reaching number 48 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart. The recording introduced Skip Scarborough's composition, which subsequently achieved wider commercial recognition through Earth, Wind & Fire. The song gained enduring recognition when Earth, Wind & Fire recorded it as 'Can't Hide Love' for their 1975 album Gratitude, bringing Scarborough's composition to a substantially larger audience. Creative Source's original remains an important early recording of the song and a notable part of the group's 1970s catalogue.
