Truth & Rights

Zero 7 · 2002
Recording

Recorded by British production duo Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker, collectively known as Zero 7, Truth & Rights was an exclusive recording for their 2002 compilation Another Late Night. The track reinterprets Jamaican singer Johnny Osbourne's Truths & Rights with electronic textures, a restrained bassline and atmospheric production. Released in February 2002 through the Another Late Night series, Truth & Rights demonstrated Zero 7's ability to reinterpret an established Jamaican composition within their distinctive production style. The recording was also issued as a seven-inch single, reflecting its prominence within a compilation otherwise devoted to music selected by the duo. Truth & Rights remains a distinctive recording from Zero 7's early career, connecting Johnny Osbourne's original composition with the British electronic music scene of the early 2000s. Its inclusion on subsequent remastered editions and the 2024 vinyl reissue of Another Late Night has preserved the recording for later audiences.
