Fire When Ready

Recorded in the UK rave/hardcore scene by G Double E, the duo of Danny Griffiths and Kris Ogden, with Kris Ogden credited as Uzi Da Fluzi. A contemporary profile described the record as being welded together with Uzi Da Fluzi’s help, and the finished track leaned heavily on cut-and-paste sampling. Released on Jumpin' & Pumpin' in 1991, it stood as a fierce early hardcore/breakbeat single built from rap and dancehall samples. It circulated in UK club and DJ culture and was noted in the music press as part of the era’s rave output. The track remained a touchstone for later breakbeat and jungle producers: WhoSampled lists it as sampled in several later records, and it continued to appear in old-school rave programming and compilations years later.
