You Only Live Twice

You Only Live Twice

Nancy Sinatra · 1966
Recording

Recorded on 2 May 1967 at CTS Studios in Bayswater, London, for the James Bond film You Only Live Twice. John Barry conducted and produced a 60-piece orchestra, assembling Nancy Sinatra's final vocal from numerous takes. The song introduced the film's title sequence and became one of the most distinctive themes in the James Bond series. Its sweeping string motif and restrained vocal performance gave Sinatra a major international soundtrack recording. The recording remains a celebrated Bond theme and has been widely covered, sampled and referenced in later popular music. Its opening string figure became one of John Barry's most recognisable cinematic motifs.
