Mo Money Mo Problems

Recorded in 1997 at Daddy’s House Recording Studios in New York and Caribbean Sound Basin in Trinidad, with The Notorious B.I.G. joined by Puff Daddy and Mase. The single’s credits also include Sean Combs and Stevie J as producers, with recording work by Lane Craven, Steve Jones, and Doug Wilson. Issued as the second single from Life After Death, the track turned into one of Bad Boy’s defining late-1990s crossover records. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped extend The Notorious B.I.G.’s posthumous chart presence. The song remains one of The Notorious B.I.G.’s signature hits and a durable shorthand for rap’s money-and-pressure theme. Its chorus and title have been widely referenced and revisited in later pop and hip-hop records.
