Pump It Up

Pump It Up

Joe Budden · 2003
Recording

Produced by Just Blaze and recorded with engineer Nick Howard for Joe Budden’s self-titled debut era. The single was issued with the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack rollout and later appeared on Budden’s debut album Joe Budden. The track became Budden’s breakthrough hit and a defining early-2000s club rap single, reaching the Billboard Hot 100 and helping establish his major-label profile. It also tied directly to the commercial push around 2 Fast 2 Furious, which widened its audience beyond hip-hop radio. It remains Budden’s signature song and his highest-charting single, and it has stayed culturally visible through soundtrack placements, game use, and later references to the track. The song’s hook and Just Blaze production have kept it in circulation as a durable early-2000s rap staple.
