Jack
Breach · 2013Ben Westbeech made the track as Breach after talking with Claude VonStroke the night before and then cutting the vocal and hook in his studio a few hours later. He said he finished it in four or five hours, building it around a vocal idea and rerecording it so it sat better over the house beat. Released in 2013, it became a sleeper crossover hit after first appearing on Dirtybird and then being reissued by Atlantic. It reached No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart and was described at the time as one of the year’s biggest crossover hits and a touchstone for the UK house revival. The track is still treated as Breach’s signature record and a house anthem, remembered for pushing an underground club idea into the mainstream. Later coverage continues to frame it as an iconic summer anthem and a defining Breach release.
