Don Downing · 1978
Recording

Recorded at Power Station in New York, with Don Downing backed by New York session players and co-produced by Tony Bongiovi and Lance Quinn; Bob Clearmountain, Don Berman, and Neil Dorfsman are credited among the recording engineers. David Vanderpitte handled the arrangement on the album session. Released in 1978 as the title track of Downing’s Roadshow/RS International album, it became a durable club favorite from the disco era and is remembered as one of his signature recordings. Contemporary writeups describe it as an underground dance hit with strong soul and orchestral touches. The track has remained a DJ and sample source, with WhoSampled listing later uses by DJ Marky and Bungle, Kostenko Brothers, and HateLate. Its continuing appeal comes from its propulsive groove and polished New York disco production.
