Recording

Roni Size recorded Brown Paper Bag with Reprazent for the New Forms album, with Roni Size credited as writer, producer, mixer, and keyboard player. The single was issued by Talkin' Loud in 1997 with remixes and related versions by Full Cycle and Photek. Released in 1997 on Talkin' Loud, the track became one of the defining singles from the Mercury Prize-winning New Forms campaign. It reached number 20 on the UK Official Singles Chart and number two on the UK Official Dance Singles Chart. The track remains one of Roni Size and Reprazent's signature records and a landmark of late-1990s drum and bass crossing into the UK mainstream. Its double-bass-led hook, spacious arrangement, and remix history kept it central to later discussions of New Forms and British club music.
