Valley of Paradise
Psychemagik · 2011Psychemagik's Danny McLewin and Tom Coveney built the track around a replayed vocal from David Crosby's "Orleans," with live drums by Roger Chapman recorded at Toe Rag Studios and a 17-piece orchestra recorded at AIR Studios' Lyndhurst Hall in London. Richard Chester arranged the orchestral parts, and Tom Greenwood contributed guitar. It was the first original track McLewin and Coveney completed together and Psychemagik's first original single, marking their move from edits into original production. The initial release appeared as a limited 350-copy vinyl pressing on their own Psychemagik imprint. The track became one of Psychemagik's defining early originals, later receiving remixes from Greg Wilson, The Time and Space Machine, Rayko and Toby Tobias. It was subsequently included on the duo's long-delayed debut album, "I Feel How This Night Should Look," in 2019.
