The Key

Tosca · 2000
Recording

Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber wrote and produced “The Key” during the 1999 sessions at G-Stone Studio 2 in Vienna. It appeared on Tosca’s second album, Suzuki, released in 2000. The track formed part of Suzuki’s more spacious approach following Tosca’s debut, Opera. The album developed the duo’s use of vocal samples as instrumental textures within extended, carefully layered arrangements. “The Key” remains part of Suzuki’s enduring catalogue, retained on the album’s vinyl reissues. The parent album earned an IMPALA gold certification for European sales exceeding 100,000 copies.
