Party Time

Recorded in 1982 for the Party Time EP, the track paired Kurtis Blow with Washington DC band EU and frontman Sugar Bear. The record was produced for Mercury Records as an early collaboration between hip hop and DC go go musicians. Released by Mercury in 1983, Party Time became the title track of an EP that reached number 36 on the Billboard R and B albums chart. The single also reached number 92 on the UK Official Singles Chart in August 1983. The record is remembered as an early documented meeting point between hip hop and Washington DC go go. It later became a specialist go go favorite and was cited by Joey Negro among essential DC go go records.
