Don't Turn It Off (feat. Qzen)

40 Thieves · 2008

Recording

"Don't Turn It Off" was produced by San Francisco collective 40 Thieves, centred on Corey Black, Layne Fox and Jay Williams, with Qzen providing the lead vocal. The recording reworked Hot Chocolate's earlier song for its first Permanent Vacation release. Released in 2008, the track became an early signature record for 40 Thieves and Permanent Vacation. Its combination of Qzen's restrained vocal with an extended dance arrangement attracted support from the disco and edit scenes. The track generated prominent reinterpretations by Brennan Green and Greg Wilson and was repeatedly reissued by Permanent Vacation. Later remixes by Session Victim, Bella Boo and Dam Swindle extended its club life into subsequent decades.
