Recording

Recorded as Cashmere's 1979 single, with Shell Schellekens producing and arranging the release around a new vocal setting of material by Leo Sayer, Albert Hammond, and Hans Hollestelle. The full-length album version ran 6:45 and was also issued on 12-inch single. Released by Fleet in 1979, Love's What I Want became Cashmere's major hit in the Netherlands. It reached number 4 on the Dutch Top 40 and number 7 on the Nationale Hitparade. The track remains Cashmere's best-known recording and a Dutch late-1970s dance-pop one-off. Its later digital reissues and compilation presence kept the record in circulation among European disco and pop collectors.
