Take A Ride Version

Take A Ride Version

Dub Specialist · 1975
Recording

The track was recorded at Studio One as a version of Al Campbell’s “Take A Ride” rhythm. Clement “Coxsone” Dodd produced the recording, with Dub Specialist used for the Studio One dub and version-side credit. First issued from the mid-1970s Studio One catalogue, the track carried the “Take A Ride” rhythm into dub-version form. Its later inclusion on Soul Jazz Records’ Studio One Dub introduced it to a wider reissue audience as part of Studio One’s early dub catalogue. The track remains in circulation through Studio One and Soul Jazz reissues of Studio One Dub. It preserves the rhythm foundation later associated with Johnny Osbourne’s “Truth And Rights” and Lone Ranger’s “Automatic.”
