Young Folks

Recorded in Stockholm during the Writer's Block sessions at Bjorn Yttling's small studio in Hogalid, with Peter Moren, Bjorn Yttling, John Eriksson, and guest vocalist Victoria Bergsman. The band produced the recording themselves, building it around Yttling's whistled hook and Eriksson's percussion pattern. Released by Wichita Recordings in 2006, Young Folks became Peter Bjorn and John's international breakthrough single. It reached number 13 on the UK Official Singles Chart and helped turn Writer's Block into one of the defining Swedish indie-pop crossover albums of the decade. The track remains the band's signature recording, driven by one of the most recognizable whistle hooks of the 2000s. Its long afterlife includes extensive film, television, advertising, cover, and sample use.
