Bad Minded Woman (with The Skatalites)
Laurel Aitken · 1964Recording
Laurel Aitken recorded it in Jamaica during his 1963 visit, backed by The Skatalites at Ken Khouri’s Federal Studio in Kingston. The session was part of a two-day set of recordings that Aitken financed himself. Issued on Rio in 1964, the track captured Aitken working in the new ska style with The Skatalites at the height of early Jamaican popular music. It stands as one of the key sides from his classic 1963 Kingston sessions. The song remained a staple on later Laurel Aitken compilations and reissues, helping frame his reputation as the Godfather of Ska. Its association with The Skatalites has kept it in circulation among ska revival audiences and collectors.
