Burning Touch

Burning Touch

Don Drummond · 1964
Recording

Don Drummond recorded "Burning Torch" in the 1960s with Lloyd Knibb on drums and Don Drummond on trombone. It is credited to producer Arthur "Duke" Reid on the Treasure Isle label, with other musicians unnamed in the surviving discography. The track belongs to Drummond’s darker, more introspective run of ska instrumentals and is listed among the key compositions from his peak creative period. It circulated on Treasure Isle releases and later became part of the core Don Drummond catalogue. "Burning Torch" remained in circulation through later compilations such as Don Drummond retrospectives and ska anthologies, keeping it available to later generations of listeners. Its continued reissue history helped preserve Drummond’s reputation as one of ska’s defining instrumental voices.
