I Love NYE

Recorded for Badly Drawn Boy's About a Boy soundtrack, “I Love NYE” was composed by Damon Gough and released with the album on 8 April 2002. The recording credits list Gough as performer and producer, Steve McLaughlin as producer and studio musician, Jonathan Reese as conductor and the London Metropolitan Orchestra among the credited players. The track formed part of the original music Gough wrote and performed for the film About a Boy, a soundtrack that reached number 4 on the UK albums chart. As an instrumental cue, it helped connect the album's song-based material with the film's score-writing function. “I Love NYE” remained in circulation through later digital editions of About a Boy and became a quiet fan-recognized piece from Gough's soundtrack catalogue. Its continued streaming presence reflects the long afterlife of the About a Boy score alongside the album's singles “Silent Sigh” and “Something to Talk About.”
