Waiting In The Park Dub
The Revolutionaries · 1978Built from the rhythm track of The Chantells’ “Waiting In The Park,” it was cut in Jamaica at Joe Gibbs and Channel One and remixed at Channel One. Roy Francis produced and arranged the original Phase One sessions, with remix work credited to Ernest Hookim and Bunny. The track belongs to the Phase One dub series that translated a successful roots vocal into a stark, echo-heavy dub version. It reflects the late-1970s Channel One era when dub albums were being assembled from recently recorded riddims for sound-system and import-market release. It remains a recognized example of the Revolutionaries’ Channel One sound and has circulated widely on dub compilations and digital reissues. The track also preserves one of the key riddims associated with the Chantells’ “Waiting In The Park” in dub form.
