Eddie “Flashin” Fowlkes · 1988
Recording

Recorded in Detroit by Eddie “Flashin” Fowlkes, with Fowlkes credited as producer and Magic Juan as mixer on the original release. It appeared on the 1988 Ten Records compilation Techno! The New Dance Sound of Detroit. The track was one of the Detroit cuts selected for Techno! The New Dance Sound of Detroit, the compilation that helped introduce techno to UK and European listeners. Its inclusion placed Fowlkes alongside the scene’s key early innovators and gave the record wider international visibility. Time To Express became one of Fowlkes’s signature early tracks and remained a recurring touchstone in Detroit techno retrospectives and DJ culture. It has been reissued and remixed across later releases, keeping it in circulation long after the original era.
